Care to Share?

Care to Share? is a trilogy of online quizzes looking at attitudes to sharing digital evidence, sharing DNA and the deployment of facial recognition technology.

Questions are situated within scenarios that respondents can relate to, rather than asked in the abstract. It’s not ‘how much do you trust the Criminal Justice system and forensic evidence?’, it’s ‘what would you do?’ or ‘do you think this person did the right thing?’ Characters give contrasting viewpoints, to help people make a more informed choice about a subject they might not have thought about before.

Adding a narrative layer to the quizzes allows respondents to better understand what they are being asked, and to answer with higher fidelity, avoiding the intention-behaviour gap.

Care to Share? was created with the Leverhulme Research Centre for Forensic Science (LRCFS), at the University of Dundee, as part of a UKRI-funded project, looking at trust in the Criminal Justice system and forensic evidence. It consists of three independent scenario quizzes: Care to share: your phone? (looking at attitudes to sharing digital evidence), Care to share: your DNA? (looking at attitudes to sharing DNA), and Care to share: your face? (looking at attitudes to facial recognition.)

The quizzes are currently live.
